FAQs

  1. What can I expect during my first session?

Your first session is a chance for us to get to know each other a little bit better. We’ll talk about what brings you in, where you are at right now, and what you'd like to work on together, including your goals. If you're not sure, we can figure them out together! I will also answer any questions you may have.

  2. Is what I share confidential?

Yes! It is my ethical and legal responsibility to keep what you share with me confidential. There are a few exceptions to this which include:

    • If there is a serious risk of harm to yourself or others

    • If a child or vulnerable adult may be at risk

    • If a court orders your records

    • If your condition may make it unsafe for you to drive

  3. Do I need a referral to see a psychologist?

No referral is needed. Although some extended health benefit plans may require a doctor’s referral for reimbursement, it's a good idea to check with your provider.

  4. Are services covered by MSP or insurance?

Psychological services are not covered by BC’s Medical Services Plan (MSP). However, many extended health plans offer partial or full coverage. I will provide receipts for you to submit for reimbursement with your extended health benefits provider.

  5. How long does each session last?

    I offer 50-minute sessions ($250) and 75-minute sessions ($375).

  6. Why is a 50-minute session billed at $250/hour?

Although our session time together is 50 minutes, the full hour includes 10 minutes that I use for essential tasks such as reviewing previous notes and documenting notes afterward. This helps ensure that our time together is thoughtful, organized, and meets the professional standards set by the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC.

  7. What is the cancellation and rescheduling policy?

I greatly appreciate a 48-hour notice for cancellations or rescheduling, as this helps me offer the spot to someone else. Missed sessions or cancellations within 48 hours may incur a late-cancellation fee.
